Monday: A Reading List

Our email is down at work for the moment and that means it’s oddly quiet in terms of the interwebs. So, I’m stealing, “It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?” from Jonita who participates in the original meme? idea? post? from J. Kaye’s blog.

Books I Completed This Week Are: Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro and The Human Stain by Philip Roth.

Books I’m Currently Reading: Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen (ereader), Nocturnes by Kazuo Ishiguro, Bitten by Kelley Armstrong (for The Undeath Match), The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver. It’s a toss-up which ones I’ll actually finish this week.

What’s Up Next?: Goodness, gracious me, I have no idea. Let’s see what I finish above first of all.

What are you all reading?

  1. noting at the moment, but I am poised to start reading several versions of Peter Pan to try and get to the bottom of the fellow and not the Disneyified version.

  2. I finished Nora Roberts "Bed of Roses" last week — really enjoyed it. Am starting, for my fiction, a book by Philip Margolin (Executive Privilege — my brother told me it's a page-turner!). And I'm indulging my spiritual side with a self-help kind of book on interpreting life's spiritual messages, "Decoding the Spiritual Messages of Everyday Life." It takes a more rational approach to our spiritual feedback — we're at the same point in understanding our interactions with spiritual reality that psychology was in understanding our interactions with material reality 100 years ago. (Can you tell the author has a degree in religion and a medical degree? I love that!) Anwyay, interesting stuff.

  3. I read Northanger Abbey for my VicLit class a few weeks ago! Isabella cracks me up, what a classy lady.

What am I reading…whatever my profs tell me to! One Hundred Demons, by Lynda Barry, Obasan, by Joy Kogawa, and Great Expectations, Dickens (of course). Can't wait until Christmas when I can dive into some books that aren't assigned!

  4. Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol and really enjoying it and Robin Cook's Foreign Body.
After that, maybe Mistress of the Sun by Sandra Gulland?
